How many of you, like me, are constantly toggling between tasks- not quite satisfied with the time and attention each one of them get? With the entry of Smartphones in our lives, emails started appearing on the phone and clients started sending messages, documents via WhatsApp, there is an expectation to respond to anyone who contacts us immediately. Apparently we tap, swipe, and click on our phones 2,617 times per day (King Online University) and the average smartphone owner unlocks their phone 150 times a day (Internet Trends)!


This, naturally has made focusing on important tasks next to impossible.


I was recently introduced to The Pomodoro Technique. This is the most effective time management hack that I have found in recent years. Here, you carve out a few hours in a day to tackle all the deep thinking tasks that you need to get done. You divide this time into focused work sessions with frequent short breaks to promote sustained concentration and stave off mental fatigue. So, 25 minutes work + 5 minutes break works quite well. You could mix up the sessions with different tasks if you like. Put your phone on Airplane Mode and carve out a block of time-3-4 hours on a given day . It's really effective.
